I agree; I think it'd be a lot more fun to have OS X on a PC. I think it'd be a lot of fun trying to do that too, but of course I'd need OS X to actually try that. And it's true, Win has run on Intel for ages, so it's not nearly as exciting...
I have similar issues with Mac (and any thing that is proprietary).. I think it's probably more stable in some ways (although I doubt as stable as my amd x86 based server), but I hate, hate, hate proprietary stuff. It's why I don't like to buy pre made PCs, also, because sometimes those are harder to upgrade (as opposed to everything bought by itself and then put together). I guess I like choices... and such (it's one reason I love Gentoo -- though I know that Gentoo is a bit much for a lot of people).
