Title: neat and orginal
Post by: curtis on May 10, 2003, 12:50:35 PM
Some time ago mini-itx.com (http://mini-itx.com) had a articel about
a new comp called hush, well its more like a new case
witch is only deliverd with a via motherboard.

The new case is made out of very thick aluminum
and its mostly very solid connections, the reson to
this is to use the hole case as one big heat sink
witch seems to be working fine on the via motherboard
so the box dosent have a singel fan inside.

An other neat thing about the box is that due to
the thicknes and no fans the box is compleatly quiet.

The ppl the wrote the articel said thay couldent tell
if the box was on or not without looking at the blue
power button or the red hd led.

Also thay could bearly hear the hd click when thay
prest ther ears aginst the box. :)

I do not intend to write an review based on an other
but whanted to inform about some of the neat details
of the box.

As for dose who have seen my comp in the picture
section know that its compleatly naked, and i intend
to try and make a case that looks simular to mini-itxs.

Anyone here think its a cool box or neat idea or have
compents on the topic ? ::)

Very nice, Lalle

I wonder if the no fan would keep it cleaner or not.. Does it mean that there are no vents in the machine ?

I'd love to have a machine that has no fan, and that is quiet.. I don't know.. it's just.. different, and I like that (believe it or not).

Am curious as to what your machine will turn out to be like.

I do have a couple concerns with the whole no fan thing though... Does this case dissipate heat of all components or is it designed mostly for the heat generated by the motherboard. I've seen a few hard drives that seem to run a little warm and take advantage of air circulation in the case to help cool them a bit. Other than the fact that I would love to see an independent review and test of the unit, I can say it's a pretty cool design and concept. Guess we'll just have to wait and see...

Cool idea, but how is it beyond theory?

Even though Curtis (aka Lalle aka others, a good friend of mine) doesn't post here really ever (then again, do I these days ? :)) I figured I'd respond here and update it some.

He has a case made of wood, for some years (a few years after he wrote the op). One has fans, one doesn't .. and it works fine ... so really, it's about design and air flow within the case. I know, crazy idea, and I certainly wouldn't have wanted to try it, but hey, first time for everything ... and let me tell you the wooden case is nice (some are super nice!)

Long time ago but whatever!

I don't have any of his case but I know you can find pictures as (last I knew) there are companies that make wooden computer cases.
