Post by: asty on June 11, 2005, 01:11:58 PM
Hi peeps

Just started this new hobby and im enjoying myself but i want to find some worthy target's I have been looking for a hit list on the web or some kind of fame ranking, if anybody can point me in the right direction i would be most grateful.

Here's my reply:

TRY being CONSTRUCTIVE. You'll get a lot MORE RESPECT that way. Doing it because 'they deserve it'. I would really like to expect better than that from people. Why not go to a 'hack challenge' or 'coding challenge' or such (there are plenty of them), rather than picking some poor company's site.

Defacing some site or whatever you do there, isn't going to get you respect. Hell, even illegal operations should not be messed with by 'hacking', because it's interferring with the law (and indeed it might even be illegal to do that even though the other person is not legit, because it can screw up evidence).

So, no, we're not starting a list of those to 'hack'. If you need that, come up with one on your own or find a group that is less respectful of others properties. As I've said before, destructive and/or intrusive 'hackers' contradict themselves. If they're hackers, they should respect computers, so why cause damage to other computers ?

We won't be able to start a list of targets, for obvious reasons.

However i am always with people that "look in" to targets that deserve it. These type of targets are a plenty and in no danger of becoming a shortage. However a lot of targets that deserve to be royally fucked over are ones that you would really need to know your limits and skills and also TAKE YOUR TIME with.

By the sounds of it you might need to be starting with a server that is legal to hack and not try diving straight in to a legit business network.

yadda yadda...

Asty,

This is not the way to go. While our Black Hat brothers act this way and could supply you with such a list, this is not proper for a true hacker. I use the term hacker with respect, while people with intensions like yours slaughter it and lower the statis of the whole community. Please be more respectful and thoughtful before you make rediclous posts like that. Oh, I just thought of a target for you. 127.0.0.1. Have fun Fucktard.

PS. Props to Priest for letting us use the work Fucktard!

Sorry, I didn't read Cobra's post well enough. Cobra, you do have a point, but I was speaking in more generic terms. Wanted to clarify that. Thankz.

I think there used to be some sort of list for Black/Grey/White hat targeting that were pedophilia sites a few years back. Not sure what happened to that, tho I think its still around but just went more underground.

EHAP (Ethical Hackers Against Pedophilia) I think was the group that spearheaded the effort. They got some press at about 3 to 4 years back and then went poof.

Id say a list like the one they had sort of walks the line on the ethics standards in the community.

Tazinator,

In reguards to your first statement, there are some underground groups, but from what I've seen, their eather really bad, or anti-porn.

As for EHAP, they were shutdown after all the media attention, but  some of its key members are still fighting. If I can find the link, I'll post it.

Lastly, EHAP had the support of the "white" community and of the media, at first. Becides, Porn sites are everywhere. Losing a few won't effect the statis of the industry. And, porn people have no ethics, so EHAP did what they felt was right.

If a list was made for like church sites, or of companys that wern't crooked, that would be wrong. See, thats what I was trying to get accross in my first post, but, idk if anyone got it.

You didn't do anything wrong. I just didn't want the thread to get disgusting which I saw it heading for...

Besides... Jesus died for your sins (so you're forgiven of any harm done!), right ? ;D Something like that anyway (I wouldn't know for sure).

A good start (but not always public) would be something like condemned.org used to do. They targetted child pornography sites. Another good class of retards to hit are these new "hacking class" companies. They are the biggest jokes on the planet. I'll think of some better ideas and add to this later.

Reminds me of when I got thrown out of a "Security" class at my old job they made mandatory for all admins in the company to take. Some lady was up there trying to dazzle and astound by exploiting Windows RPC and DCOM, so I decided to screw with her a little since she was also using Windows ;)

It was a similar type of "How to Hack" class and she worked for some local Microskills type school. They thought teaching the admins of the company how to "hack" would improve their awareness of security and they may learn what to do to defend against some stuff. Alas, the plan failed completely. Generally you cant teach or suggest anything to Microsoft Admins unless its printed in a Microsoft Press book or listed on the MS website.

I probably would have gotten away without anyone knowing it was me if I wasnt laughing so damn hard when I locked her out of her machine, hehe. That and the fat guy next to me ratted me out because he watched me the whole time.

HAHA!

That's bloody hilarious! Locking this teacher out of their computer ... when they're teaching security.

Nice one Taz.

Too easy. I'm the programmer of one.

That aside, on the note of targeting pedo's: indeed there's been many groups over the years. I was part of one (sort of) in the mid 90s (before I came across HFX; it started by someone in a group where I met DigitalSuicide - as a different name though). There's still possible issues with targeting them as disgusting as they are (and there is not one single person who has more issues with sexual assault than me; equal sure, more, not): it can interfere with investigations. Example (contrived as it may be): attacking a server to remove the crap (or keeping it offline) when there could be an active investigation on said providers. In general though, there's a fine line that is hard to keep straight. One thing I would love to do (because I have my own mail server) but refuse to due to the law is attack computers that attempt to relay mail through my server.

Of course there's an alternative: network tarpits on would be attackers....
