Title: DNS and UDP
Post by: Metgod on March 11, 2002, 06:12:11 PM
Can't resolve host names yet you are still connected ? i.e.:
You can connect to a shell if you have the IP addy, connect to an IRC server if
you have the IP addy, connect to a website if you have the IP addy, but...

when you try to resolve hostnames, your query times out -- even if the NS (name server)
is up and working fine ?

Well, make check and see if all incoming UDP is being blocked ... if it is, stop it from
happening.. Still occurring ? Might want to try stopping TCP from being blocked too !

I am disgusted at MS for including this option in Win2k... Shame on them !!!

There, my tip of the day or something.... :)

Or just install freebsd. It just as common a solution as "reboot"...

Well, at least in my opinion.

 >:( This weekend both of our external DNS servers went down (core dumped). Damn, that really pisses off the VPN users, not to mention my boss. Once again, good thing there's PERL...
