Hello,

I have got a (win nt) sam file and I want to hack the administrator's password.

What's the best tool for it? I had LC4, but it the version has expired.

thank you in advance

Martijn

Dunno, Suppose Jack the Ripper or somin .. That was the name of it wasn't it?

I can't remember if JtR was a cracking tool or a brute force tool ..

fuck it .. Just look for Jack the Ripper or a proper version of L0pht Crack ..  Remember l0pht crack is out a looooong time .. so you should be able to find an older version that was released when it was free.

Can you believe they sell L0pht crack now .. Man what knob jockeys
I am not suffering with insanity... I am loving every minute of it.

There are a few program options to brute force a SAM file. LC probably would be the best option, they redubbed it @stake LC4, and yes they sell it, but they have been before L0pht went with @stake from version 3 on.

I believe if you uninstall your current load of LC and reinstall it, it reactivates the trial use. Not sure.

Another option is SAMInside. That will do a Brute Force on SAM files as well. (http://www.insidepro.com/eng/saminside.shtml)

There are other larger apps that will do it, but only directly on the system where the SAM resides. Winternals ERD Commander 2003 and Polivek Scanner, etc. Most of those can only do a simple dictionary attack and dont have many cracking options.

I don't care what your parents told you, you aren't special.

Hehe -

There are cracks for LC4 (keygens, serials) itself. Just get those if you already know how to use it and have the SAM file. Life couldn't get any easier for you.

A very easy awy to hack the sam file is to get a boot-disk for the OS the computer you want to "hack", and start the computer with the disk ( duh  ;) ) , then you should get into dos, ( if the computer dont have a BIOS Password ).. but if not, you just go to the folder C:\WINDOWS\system32\config and copy the SAM-file to the disk, but if the computer has a BIOS Password you must turn off the computer, and remove teh batterie on the motherboard, after about 10 seconds you can put the batterie back to its place and start the computer, this means, NO BIOS PASSWORD! ... greetings... //Kermit

Yeah... good luck with that proceedure if it's running NTFS... You'll need a copy of NTFSDOS as well to be able to access the file system...

Get a linux OS boot disk, and a thumb drive. Boot to linux grap the files save them to your thumb drive then your good. Use a good password auditing program to get the passwords...Hope this helps.
Cheers!
